Mayhew 1950 Feb. 26 Journal 25. Conaway Ranch, 2 miles east of Woodland, Yolo Co. Calif. seen most commonly was the Coot. Some of the Mallards act as though they are already paired, but I was unable to determine if this is actually the case or not. Perhaps some of them arrive here already paired. The following species were seen on the ranch today — the number following the name signifying the relative abundance on the ranch on this day. #1 = abundant, 200 birds or over; #2 = common, 50-200 birds; #3 = scarce, 5-50 birds; #4 = rare, 1-5 birds: Brewer's Blackbird - 3 Crow - 3 Red-winged Blackbird - 1 Calif.
