Mallard E31 Mayhew 1952 Experimental April 17 The bird was dead when I removed it from the shell. The outer membranes had been punctured by the youngster, + none of the membranes had stuck to its body. This egg was from the 75% relative humidity box. April 19 Today 5 eggs from Farmer were set at 75%, 5 eggs at 85% April 21 Today at 8:45 1 egg (Thomas) was seen to be pipped at 40%. April 22 A series of chicken eggs was set today to check the humidity boxes. These eggs have already been incubated awhile, so that they will be expected to hatch at different times. They are in the incubator as follows: Infertile Date set No. of eggs relative humidity 40%-3 4/8 8 40% 65%-3 4/11 5 40% 75%-2 4/11 5 65% 85%-0 4/13 5 65% 90%-1 4/13 6 75% 4/15 6 75% 4/15 3 85% 4/15 3 90% 4/16 5 40% 4/16 4 65% Total 50 April 25 Today I divided the eggs of March 29 up into 3 batches: (1) those that would remain untreated (2) those that were dipped in luke-warm water for 3 seconds
