of half-grown ducks. Each duck had no appetite of any kind, and would soon be sold as [illegible] meat if they did not get better. They were fed on boiled rice and milk, but this did them no good. The doctor said that the trouble was in their liver, and that it was necessary to give them some medicine. He also said that they might have been poisoned by eating something bad.

The ducks seemed a little better today, but still refused to eat anything except bread soaked in milk. I gave them some more of the doctor's medicine, which he had prepared for me earlier. It was a dark liquid with an unpleasant smell, but I followed his instructions carefully and mixed it into their food.

The ducks continued to improve throughout the day. By evening, they were able to stand up straighter than before, though they still looked weak. Their feathers appeared cleaner and brighter too. This made me feel hopeful about their recovery.
