The wind distorted many of the songs, so that it was difficult to accurately identify the species encountered by their songs. The majority of the birds that were encountered were found in the bottom of the canyon where the wind wasn't so strong. One view & one nest of an unidentified species were seen during the morning. The species seen were: Purple Finch, Bushtit, Junco, Turkey Vulture, Brown-backed Goldfinch, Red-tailed Hawk, Orange-crowned Warbler, Song Sparrow, Brown Towhee, & Sharp-shinned Hawk. The additional species heard were: Bewick's Wren, Wren-tit, & Pileated Warbler.
April 19 Wildcat canyon, Contra Costa Co., Calif.
