Cliff swallow
March 27, 1953; Pindle no 5.
A flock of about 25 bathing in
a pond while at the wing. The birds
hit the water the full length of the breast
and glided on surface - flapping wings
several times before getting free from
surface. Watch spluttered over back.
All flock did this at once. Always flew
into wind over the surface of the water
so as to rise readily after each dip. - Ripples
in water very pronounced - not to be
confused with drouking.
