Xyris flexuosa Entering the woods came within a few feet; Could have touched it with my cane of a hornets' nest - a foot in diameter, the kind that is suspended from trees, swarming with black & white striped hornets. Backed out without harm. Another step & I would have been right out of it. A narrow escape! At Edge of pond disturbed a large black snake that made off with incredible speed.
