June 14, 1972 Dr. Yehudah Werner Department of Zoology Hebrew University of Jerusalem Jerusalem, Israel Dear Yehudah: It was very good to hear from you again, and to learn that everything is going fine with you. It sounds as though you had an exceedingly wonderful trip in 1970-71. Regarding the temperature data for Coleonyx variegatus: yes, the only portion I have published so far was in "Desert Biology". Hopefully, I can get the rest written up sometime this year. Between my rather heavy teaching load the last couple of years, and spending the summers of 1970 and 1971 in India, manuscripts have not been completed very fast in recent months. I expect this to change now, however. The following, I think, is the information you desire regarding Coleonyx: Temperature (°C) Month N Mean Range March 5 25.6 20.0-34.8 April 111 23.6 17.2-30.4 May 42 26.0 19.6-32.7 June 51 28.9 23.2-33.0 July 15 35.0 30.2-37.5 August 34 32.3 27.9-36.2 September 20 31.6 25.5-37.0 October 15 27.6 20.2-32.6 November 1 30.3 ---- Total 294 27.2 17.2-37.5 s² = 20.3
