List of the plants
growing Wild in Dallas County Tex.
Written expressly for prof. Asa Gray.
By Julien Reverchon
Ranunculaceæ.
1 Clematis pitcheri, L. and Gr — common in the woods.
2 anemone caroliniana, Walt. — common in sands and light calcareous
soils. — several varieties in color, white, purple and black.
3 heterophylla Nutt. — common everywhere except in dry soils.
I think this species a good one, different from no 2. The
most constant difference consisting in the length of
the stem being soon always longer below the whorl
(in the line of the anthers, being elongated afterward).
in no 2 the longest part being constantly above
the flowers is greenish-white, one variety is pink.
4 Thalictum cornutum, L. — in rich woods not common.
5 Ranunculus repens — I think this to be a simple form of no 6.
growing in rich lowland bottom of Trinity and White
rock creek.
6 fascicularis Malh. — in sands. very rare, neighborhood of Dallas.
Trachyspermum impatiens.
7 fascicularis, purr. — wet places in the spring not rare.
8 abruptus — both flowers in the Trinity bottom about Dallas.
