Gray Herbarium,
Cambridge, Mass.
Dear Dr. Robinson:--
In accordance with your request, I am sending under separate cover the set of 107 photographs of Aegiphila type collections, or, where these are lacking, of especially representative sheets, and am enclosing the bill for the same herewith. I trust that the photographs will prove satisfactory. Some are not quite equal to others in quality, but that, I suppose, is to be expected, since I have taken almost 600 photographs thus far, in all sorts of weather and under all sorts of difficulties, and the films have been developed by several different persons. Doubtless some slight differences in technique are responsible for some of the differences in quality to be noticed in the prints. However, I think that every one of the pictures which I am sending you is very typical of the species or variety which it represents, and, taken in conjunction with the diagnoses and the key to species which will appear in my forthcoming monograph, ought to prove a big help to your Staff in identifying unknown specimens of this genus. There are about a dozen more species in the genus of which I have not yet made photographs. When these are available I shall let you know. Perhaps you would care to have them also, so as to make your collection complete.
Enclosed you will find a list of the photographs, giving collector, collection number, locality of collection, and the herbarium in which the particular sheet which was photographed is deposited. The numbers correspond with the numbers on the reverse side of each photograph.
Thanking you again for all your continued kindness to me, please permit me to remain,
Very respectfully yours,
Harold N. Moldenke
