Lehner, P.

Dec. 6
drowned at 5:00 A.M. by the phone ringing
and a voice telling me a taxi would be there
in 15 minutes; I packed, gave Stadel $20 to give
to Woodward, who was to take my two glass balls
back to Washington with him; the taxi got
me to Hickam where I checked in and
then fell asleep watching Joe Brown trying
to get on a flight; the plane left at 7:30
getting me to Johnston at 10:40 A.M.; I called
Sand Is. to try to get a VP over after me, but
had to wait for an M boat so I thought,
later Joe Brown and then the VP arrived with
Dr. Kirkpatrick and we headed for Sand; I
got unpacked, looked around the island and they
caught up on lost sleep.
