Lehner, P. 1964 23 Aug. 6 - Sooty Tern Species Account continued other sooties (possibly same three) - hovered and swung about for a minute and then flew off together toward Sand in an North-easterly direction. Conclusions - 1. he apparently entered water of own accord. 2. he picked apparently chose the location 3. in order to get out he probably would have had to climb the north bank and get into the wind - the bank is rocky and not too steep - he could have gotten up without much difficulty. 4. he made no attempt to fly off the water; apparently realizing that he must reach shore and dry off first.
