Jan. 1
we ushered in the first day of the year
with the gypwire census; Doc ran the first
couple of hours and checked half the
mouse traps before I had a chance to get
out of bed; saw Red-footed Boobies in mating
behavior today: One bird (apparently female) sat
on ground at probable nest site while two
others (apparently males) flew back and forth
swooping close over her - every time they would
approach, the sitting bird would squawk at them
in what appeared to be a threatening gesture.
Observed a male adult Great Frigatebird
take a Tribulus runner out to the rocks
north of the Signal bldg.
Two Common Noddies were observed in close
flight, side by side - apparently mating flight
After supper we once again sat grid traps.
