Dark brown, Bill and legs black
Abundant here. Frequent in
brush along water. Action
similar to other Gypactelus
except that I saw several fluttering
stationary in the air similar
to a Spurrow Hawk.
Passed Pantano, a station on
the Southern Pacific R.R., and
followed down a cienga from
it to the old overland station
Bimaga, now abandoned since
the R.R. took its occupation away.
A cienga (see-in-x-ga) is a sort
of marsh peculiar to this country.
It is caused by the contraction of
a valley by rocky ridge crossing
the country and the waters having
cut a channel through it.
