Drove to the well 15 miles
north of Tucson and laid
over to look for Massasa
Partridges that were said to
be seen near by occasionally,
but could find none.
While coming down a steep
hill I tossed a stone into a
bush below me, when two
Owls as large as or larger than
the Barn Owl flew up. They
were much the color of the
McCalls Owl. I missed with
both barrels, and they
went out of sight. I do not
think they had ear tufts.
