June 8/1 Carny Lowell 495 Micrathene whitneyi 6X15/1 8 Shot at twilight. It was a little cloudy and they came out earlier than usual. They evidently came from the thickets of Elder and Willow. The calls, of which there are several, are different from those heard the first time I made the acquaintance of M. whitneyi, and are those mentioned under #452. I probably heard the 9 calls then, and these are those of the 8. The females seem to pass the day in the Giant cactus while the males stay in the brush. 6193 90 Dits 78X14.6 8
