19 May. 81 Ants. Santa Rita Mts. This morning I find that some animal, probably a Wood Rat, has destroyed some skins during the night. I had left the box open to facilitate drying. The head of Bovotopus festivus No 392 is partly broken off, but is repairable. The head of two Hummingbirds 382 is gone. No. 397 is totally destroyed, so is 389. #378 is missing. 6096 409 Antrostomus nuttalli 8.IX.76 D Killed last night. The first two or three nights we were here I heard occasionally an A. var. arizonis, but since then I have not heard it. The whistle of A. nuttalli some distance like "Boo-woo" but close at hand more like "Pul-dud" She is abundant here.
