19 May. 81 Ants.
Santa Rita Mts.
This morning I find that some
animal, probably a Wood Rat,
has destroyed some skins during
the night. I had left the box
open to facilitate drying.
The head of Bovotopus festivus
No 392 is partly broken off, but
is repairable. The head of two
Hummingbirds 382 is gone. No. 397 is
totally destroyed, so is 389.
#378 is missing.

409 Antrostomus nuttalli 8.IX.76 D
Killed last night. The first
two or three nights we were
here I heard occasionally an
A. var. arizonis, but since then
I have not heard it.
The whistle of A. nuttalli some
distance like "Boo-woo" but
close at hand more like "Pul-dud"
She is abundant here.
