rare. Found in flocks of six to fifteen in the scrub Oaks. Sialia [illegible] is rare in the low valleys. S. Mexicana abundant in all timber. Ixodes dorsalis is now occasional in the canons containing timber and water. In the spring they are common and in summer tolerably plenty also. A nest I found in 1876 was under a tuft of grass in heavy pine timber about 6000 ft altitude. I find it useless to try to describe the songs of birds as I have no ear for music so I shall not attempt to do so with any. but very rare on
