L.Umbagog.
1890. Ectopistes migratoria
Mr. Ferrin of Errol tells me that he saw a single Wild Pigeon
the past summer in Errol the only one that he has heard of for the
past five or six years. Twenty years ago they used to be abundant
and forty years ago they had to be kept out of the buckwheat fields
by boys who watched the grain from daylight until dark. In those
old times he has seen flocks a mile or two in length.
Ectopistes migratorius.
1890, Lake Umbagog.
September 21. Lakeside.
No one has seen any Wild Pigeons this year.
