June 14 Alva Coolidge tells me that he has seen at least four
different hen Spruce Partridges this spring along the trail that
leads from Upton to B.Pond. He has searched long and carefully for
their nests but without success. It was on this trail that he and

John Thayer found the nest and eggs that the latter gave me two
years ago.
