1880. Numenius borealis.
Maine (Lake Umbagog).
Sept. 11. A Curlew on the muddy margin of the lower pond in
the meadow. It made several short flights and uttered
a note absolutely different from that of N. hudsonicus.
This with its smaller size seemed to identify it satis-
factorily.
