Actitis macularia.
1896,
May 28.
Lake Umbagog.
Pine Point.
Spotted Sandpipers are amazingly abundant all around the
lake. Not a point nor an island but has at least one pair and
they fly out of the bushes all along the shores as we approach,
but we cannot find their nests. What becomes of them and their
progeny in late summer and early autumn?
