Pelidna alpina sakhalina. Lake Umbagog, Me. Sept. & Oct. 1893. Fringsa alpina Oct. 2 @ sad that 3 june 1 year thus Oct. 2. Seven feeding on the beach at Moose Pt. Junco Pectorals too Bonaparte's and a Dunlin mixed with them - The Dunlins were shy and more nervous than the other birds & usually took wing first. When feeding they moved about rather slowly in crouching attitudes like the Pectorals but when alarmed or suspicious they stood erect with necks stretched up, their long bills and graceful outlines at once distinguished them from these companions - Flight like that of most Fringsa - swift & erratic with frequent sharp turns & doubtings. Call note a mellow double whistle diagnostic, but resembling somewhat the Pectoral, an adult which I shot had the under parts spotted with black. Lake Umbagog, Maine. Fringsa alpina pacifica 1894 September 27 (killed) Quail twisters. " 28
