Sept. 12. The ordinary flight note of this Plover is a squeaking whistle, rather unpleasantly to my ear & wholly unlike the sweet and melodious call of the Black-bellied Plover. On day I heard another note from this breast - flying about on the meadow. It was young birds flying about on the meadow. It was a low very melodious rolling whistle of two or three notes! The flight of the Golden Plover compares as far more than that of any bird except the Peregrine.
