1873.
Aug. 28. A flock of four large Phalaropes which I took to be
this species came flying in from the Lake and flying with
exceeding swiftness, twisting and doubling like Snipe,
alightened for a moment in the middle of Cambridge River
near its mouth.
1881.
May 20. A Phalarope swimming among some drift wood near the
Middle Dam permitted me to get so near that I recognized
it as an adult female of this species. It finally rose
and flew swiftly off over the Lake, the chestnut marking
on the wings and back showing conspicuously.
