Herodias egretta. Maine (Rangely) Kennebago stream 1887 Ardea egretta Aug. 8 C. J. Goodale has a freshly mounted White Heron which he tells me was brought to him Aug. 12 in the flesh by W. S. Hillson of 271 Franklin St. Boston. Mr. N. told him that he shot the bird at Rangely on Aug. 8th. It is a young specimen fully grown & feathered but without plumes. It reached Mr. G. in terrible condition of course & the feathers are all off on one side of the neck. (Later) In Sept. following I met Maine (Kennebago stream) 1887 Ardea egretta Aug. 9 One at Goodale's freshly mounted. It is a young bird & reached G. in a fair - some condition. I met someone at Kennebog in Sept. who saw the bird shot. It was killed Aug. 9 by Mr. Arthur Holt.
