Sept. 29 A very and exceptionally large Canada Goose alighted on the
river at about 9 a.m. in the first reach below the bridge. Brown Sergeant came upon the bird as he was starting to fly.
He found up to within about 40 yds. when it rose
& flew out over the river heading westerly. The morning was
clear & cool. The weather yesterday & on the 27th was
wild & windy with 3 inches of rain & hail.
