Lake Umbagog, Maine. Anas obscura
1888 Extreme cunning
Sept. 29 Found fully 50 in Great Meadow & drove them all out, they came back a few at a time during the rest of the day. All regularly inspected the entire pond & its bordering marshes before alighting flying back forth several times, following up each creek nearly to its head. Several of the flocks evidently discovered our boat although it was carefully concealed, then at once departed.
