1894 Anas boschas
September 18 -
This bird was in company
with four Black Ducks in
Rapid River. The flock started
from a nearby place about
100 yards ahead of my boat. Through
my glass I saw distinctly that
the Mallard was a young
male with traces of the full
plumage showing here and there
in its otherwise brown dress.
