Camp List
20 km W of Acheral by road, 1500', Proia de Tucuman, Argentina
9 August
camped in the lower end of a turbulently Tumultuous river valley leading into the Andes west
of the city of Tucuman. Tropical seasonal rain forest, most of it recently logged but with
a good stand on the opposite (inaccessible) side of the river. Many epiphytes, some blooming,
as well as shrub layers and all the other groupings of a jungle. Second growth only just
staked, and was a 10' high wall of vegetation, impasse imperceptible except for a path.
River is swift and very rocky. We saw Tomout ducks live from 10 km upstream.
