Umbagog Anthus ludovicianus 19. copy ① Upton! Maine Oct. 9 to 1882 We found Lit. larks abundant this morning along the Cambridge Road below the Ball House. They were very wild & restless during the early morning hours, whirling about over the marshes, piping as they flew, seldom alighting, and starting off at the slightest alarm. Late in the afternoon the flocks seemed to have broken up and we found them singly or in little companies of three or four, feeding along the (over) muddy banks. They often skulked in among the tussocks but they were speedingly taken 1899. Oxford County, Maine. Anthus ludovicianus. Oct. 2, heard, Upton. 4
