Dendroica Blackburniae - Lake Umbagog, Maine. copy 3 1896. This morning on the hill at the western end of the Mason June 2. logging works Watrous and I found and took a fine nest and set of 4 fresh eggs of the Blackburnian. We found it by watching the female. We had probably disturbed her by shak- ing some of the trees near by but when we first saw her she was feeding. In about ten minutes she went directly to the nest and remained in it for twenty minutes or more while Watrous had gone to the camp for his climbing irons. The nest was on the lateral branch of a slender young spruce which was growing up through a large rock maple. The nest was easily seen from the ground beneath looking very like a Chippy's. Watrous took the eggs and sawed off the branch with the nest.
