Canada Jay.
Bethel Me
my dear friend.
There's a new bird around haunting the vicinity
of the stone wall in the woods. He is considerably larger than a
jay, without a crest, is of a slatey blue "sea-gull" color,
has a white throat & the top of the head is black. He utters
a series of single notes, all alike, a sort of mellow whistle, and
appears quite tame, flying short distances at a time.
The tail feathers are rather long, considerably spread in
flight. Can you tell from this what it might be?
All scenery here looks squally today -
Most cordially always
your friend
