Chordeiles virginianus.
1908
June 13
Shortly after Sunset last
evening Night-hawks began keeping
over the city, near for from the
head of State Street. There were
several of them, evidently. I
heard them at intervals through
the night which was clear &
lighted by a full moon. They
have been calling again this
morning. I cannot tell whether they are
frequent or rare here in this city.
There are 6.
of these birds. There can be,
with us no doubt, I think so,
since these birds are abundant
for the season and breeding
to fly, ground nests of which
are a good many in
the vicinity of
this colony.
