Pearson-1990 20 Most of the dead shoots that we looked at had been parasitized. December 11- Transect census at Llao Llao. Lots of new shoots are already over 1 m tall. This census has to be near maximum for Chusquea. Peter found a dead cane that had made a complete loop and then continued growing. A grub had made vertical furrow, and the culm had bent toward the furrow making a loop with the furrow on the inside; the internodes were much shorter in the bent region, then elongated again after the grub had emerged.
