5 Oct. 1963 Fifteen seals tagged on Green I., covering the whole beach with the exception of part of the undrivable E beach. (Nos. 240 thru 254 Low Broken-T). Noted a small passerine this evening but were unable to collect it. 6 Oct. 1963 Saw a duck fly over the island twice today and 2 passerines. Couldn't find any of them when we went out with the gun. Set traps in study area A1. Saw Hawaiian short-eared owl over study area when we were setting traps. 7 Oct. 1963 Caught 71 rats in area A1. Collected Murphy's petrel in study area. Collected Short-tailed shearwater near fuel tanks. Collected Skylark on road to transmitter building. Saw a duck land in the study area about noon. Bandings: ✓Brown Booby adult: 737-45229 ♂ and 230 ♀ ✓Masked Booby adult: 737-45130 ♀ ✓ " imm. : 737-45167 8 Oct. 1963 Caught 103 rats in area A1; 73 new ones and 30 recaptures. Bandings: Brown Booby adult: 737-45231 ♂ 9 Oct. 1963 Caught 114 rats in area A1, 68 new animals and 46 recaptures. Noted 2 yellowlegs (?) flying over the area and calling. Saw passerine on island this evening but couldn't collect it. 11 Oct. 1963 Saw passerine again this evening but couldn't collect it. Recorded all seal wallows on island. Noted Xmas little gulls out exercising its wings this evening.
