Socrobolia lesslety along the paved road 10 km NNE Nahuel Huapi. Ballard and aguilar set 24 steel traps for Ctenomys and 1 set 13 cage traps across the road for Rattithalon, baited with alfalfa pellets and rolled oats. Lots of sign of Rattithalo. Two of the two burrows were plugged up while me drove to Rion Grande ad look. May 5 Ran traps at 10 a.m., scattered clouds, light breeze. My traps held 6 also longi and 1 Ctenomys and 1 trap rolled over empty. Lots of Rattithro droppings. The two traps held 3 Ct. Socrobolia and 1 also longi. We then drove to Cueva Trofial and back and picked up the traps at 10 km NNE. Two Merigal burrows but no new animals. There is a fair number of diggings west of the pens in an island of almost turf where the tamarisk has left only the Scarcia and have eaten the bunches of Zylba speciosa. On the way back from Confluencia, Goyzalo noticed some two burrows on the west side of the road 200 m north of Arroyo Carbon. This is 33½ km by road north of Nahuel Huapi (the outlet of the lake). Looks good for Socrobolia, OK for camping across the road. This is 24.4 km NNE of Nahuel Huapi straight line. At 5:30 went out to the meadow at Loma de Huenuleo and Maltan & Goyzalo set 13 traps. Lots of sign.
