Pearson 1987 35 aloe [illegible] (mulium) and a pole Eremurus bush. Noteworthily, a large number of harvester ants with their mounds in the middle of thornbushes Broke camp about noon and drove 1hr SE of Fox Mounceos to Cosmico. Camped on the southeast about 5 km W of the "town" of Cosmico. [illegible] 23 Sharnas & 23 Malena spp. all among bushes and lava rocks, but now no mound sign. Antas and hoot about 23 steel traps, all set in sandy soil in small two tunnels. Sofflowered to ten wells about 15 Pied Piper cube traps, all in teres tunnels, all baited with canned tuna fish x Antas & 24 Sharnas & 24 M.S. in brushy slope habitat x Night calm, partly overcast. Oct 25 morning partly overcast, calm, not cold, my rocky trap line had 5 Phyllotis (4 in 15). Anta's line had 1 dead Eligmodonta, 2 live Eligmodonta, and 1 dead Phyllotis Steel trap in gopher burrow across the road caught 1 Eligmodonta and 16 gopher sets plus 1 cube trap near camp caught 1 Ctenomys like hargi/meridionalis and 1 Eligmodonta. The vegetation here is rather similar to yesterday, thornbushes of several species, Senna, no Muliniun, lots of harvester ants. Examined a taco nest, surely the nest of 7413, then [illegible] to broke camp and drove back to the same camp site as Oct. 24 (15 km SE Fox Mounceos)
