small (house-cat size) with spots not very conspicuous. 2 kinds of armadillo: Paleto and Pichi. The Paleto much larger, with broad head. The caretaker said the Pichi in captivity goes underground for a couple of months in winter but not the Paleto. They had a Sagridium from the Damato at Piedra de Aguila. Javalis with striped spring. Solo of two-tocar digging along the highway for the first 5 miles or so south of El Sur Calel. Home 4:30 p.m. Thanto Xmar Choral. Warm, clear. Dec.22 Gwen + Dave came at sunset time, then to Edt. Perito Moreno. Warm, clear. No feathered, dropping. Talked with Ramon Marful who says the lake is at as low a level now as it usually is in Feb. (but we have seen it this low before in some month of spring or autumn), moon 1/2, morning. Hunted with night vision goggles for Rattlesnake but saw none. Dec.23. Morning partly clear. Ants' x 5 cago traps around camp under the rocks / pineal so caught 2 Abderus longifilis. Counted pellets in the Marful meadow then back to Bariloche. Dec.24 Galopins called. Dinner with Dave and Gwen; they check 4 widgeon broods still under observation. 16 or more coyote in the lake of Perito Moreno including a litter of eleven.
