Also Newells at 1820 sitting on water. 2 Dark-rumped had fresh plumage, one of which, loaded on water 100 ft + astern and was observed pulling at something in the water, taking off as we pulled along side. It was close enough to reveal pink legs + black distal 1/3 ft + short bill Several Dark-rumps, Browns and Whiteheads, all molting were seen sitting on water. 5 Browns were not molting this fresh plumage. Tern sp? at 0941 seen by Hunter had tern like flight & "somewhat pointed wings" All dark with lighter bill, straight & lighter at base. Headed due east Light phase Wedgetail seen 1802 at 11° north, watched from bow for ½ hour in morning & 3 hours during late morning, early afternoon. no shots.
