a constriction in the gully near camp. Only one bat was seen nearby, and it flew too high to be captured. One Poorwill which was foraging along the gulch flew into the net and bounced off. I waited nearby after dark for about a half an hour, but no more bats were to be seen. One Poorwill was foraging from the floor of the gully near where I sat. It would fly up from the flat ground, grab an insect, fly over the brush, and alight. This was repeated several times near where I sat. A buck Mule Deer came to the spring to drink. It frightened and left when I saw it. It seemed to have about four points on each side of its antlers, which were in velvet.
