Some dozens of clemfis bloomed this year or last in the field/ barrow scrub between the Parking lot and Soap Gathering (at numerous places in the first couple of km). As on the road to Sam Martin, many of the clemfis have this-year shoots and many of these project far above the existing culms. Some new culms were 13 ft tall with the old culms about 8 ft. Some clemfis that had flowered this year still had some green color, and leaves, whereas others flowered this year more completely dead, straw-colored. Others grey, probably last year or earlier. Could find no seeds; the seed heads all seem to be empty. Correction: on one culm brought home, still green, about 2 to 3 of the "flowers" contain seeds.
