other shoots of the clump. Dry sheaths on these shoots but no leaves. In some places on Paths saw large numbers of Cichorium seeds. Sometimes windrows apparently floated by rain into puddles, providing concentration of seeds. The seeds are 3-cornered, like tiny beach- nuts, 5mm long x 3 mm, very light. Even with magnifiers, could not find any "meat". Morning was foggy, afternoon clear and calm. At 3pm, drove off to Estancia Penta more with Dave Frouler looking for Rattlers. Saw no fresh droppings either at Estancia San Boron, the campsite beyond the lake, or at San Frago. Ended up at the usual campsite a couple of kms east of the lake and set 4 Rattle traps and 13 cage traps. Dense cover but mostly dry. Hear [illegible] owl April 26 Ran traps at 9pm; 1 adult Rattler, 2 babies, 1 also larger size. Traced the Rattler with fluorescent powder or relaxed pins. He ran 2 ft. to another unseen hole and went down it. Ran traps again at 1:30AM, in the 13 cage traps were 5 babies, 4 also large, and 1 Cholamp. No new trails of the Rattler.
