as you go south, the big cedars appear at Lago Fallowner. The gila bander is a bit north of the Cascada Vulingquan to was loaded with new shoots sticking up above the rest of the clump; a couple of dogger shoots (thiayari) with dry sheaths and no leaves arising one from one clump. April 20. Barilobo. No frost, day mostly sunny. Drove out to the Glen Glen Peninsula and photed old habitats. Much more forest around the Glen Glen Hotel. One cypress below the Hotel Tangueler is still there, out by itself; a dead 2-inch branch in the 1940's photo is still there without change. The hotel is obscured by a grove of Doug fir. The Christie house has a big pine that was cut there in 1940. The other big trees were cut down 2 or 3 years ago. April 21 Barilobo. Morning overcast, afternoon clearing, calm. April 22 " Clear. Went out to the city dump, to the foot of Cano Otto and looked for Roitiro sign. Saw no droppings, numerous holes, lots of taco leggings. April 23 Visit to Glen Glen Peninsula for old photos. Two of the big pine trees at the Christie House, cut down about 2 to 3 yrs ago, had 43 and 46 growth rings (counted by Gene Fowler and Lynn Brand). Original 6 photos, therefore must have been taken > 46 yrs ago. Walked through cattail/calm forest at site of the marked larch clumps. Some clumps have many new shoots, many of which are taller than any of the
