Echo mochiler. Chubbs when in the trop, but heard
no calling. Then drove down to San Martin for
photos, but clouds gathered down below, clearing
about 10:30. Then up the hill again to chara trees
trofs; nothing. Goats stood on their hind legs and
eat rosa mosqueta fruits. Heard barn owl last
night. Shinned trees, sunny & warm.
April 19
Clear all night, no frost, then clouds began gathering
at sunrise. Heard barn owl again. Two mochiler
in the trofs. Picked up trofa and drove down into
San Martin for gas, about 12 km. The two section
of the road (San Martin - Villa Angostura) lies between
the first side road back into town and the side road to
probably about 300 m above the lake.
The Chapaleo ski resort. Saw other troco sleeping on
bamboo lines a couple of miles farther south also,
a longa hillside that I was photographing in the colony
wester, yesterday afternoon & which should just
touch of autumn color is this morning spectacular.
Instant magic.
Then drove south to Bariloche with stops for photos.
Day increasingly cloudy, then drizzle + rain starts
beginning about 2 p.m., but clear again in Bariloche
at 8 p.m. (when it had rained earlier).
I have spent some time in so many places
waiting in vain for sun to strike large steeper that
I am convinced that persistent local cloud cover is
part of their requirements.
