held 1 Colomy, 1 Eligios, (Adjacent Trofe), an 1 tail. Drove to San martin do los Andes, than off the Chaleco road 4 or 5 km looking for road slides. Found none, then back to town and up the road to Villa Angostura, about 8 km out of town, saw the first trees-trees diggings along the road: huge mounds of light black block soil. This was soon after the first bamboo, Berberis buxifolia and Vitellispora nearby. at 1 p.m. set 9 trofas at 3 different places, all along the road. Drezgle. The road at this place makes a big loop around a bowl containing a number of recent, sheep trampled tracks. The 4 km S of San Martin. A side road comes in here, which might be the "back" road into town. Checked the three trofas at 6 p.m. (rolling) put 2 more at one of the places, and then set 5 more at two places farther off the road. These two places are at steep road cuts with a couple of feet of black light soil on top of orange-brown leaner soil, all trofas are within a stretch of about 2 km, above the back road to San Martin. A flock of big blue & yellow parrots was feeding on a tree out in steep slope between Junin and San Martin, also parrot (smaller?) at the first little ranchito up the hill above San Martin. April 15. Most of night clear, no frost. Morning clear sky here on the hill. Put two trofas - 3 trees looking
