Wm. B. Richardson 1936 49 General Account Aug 13 Catch - 7 Thomomys bottae + Peromyscus maniculatus 11 Dipeodomys Soon after noon we broke camp retracing our route back to Clemans and then following the road to the west which brought me into a more southern part of the South Fork of the Kern River. Their are the precipitation under rocky hills vegetated with Pinons and a few Yellow Pines and the broad, comparatively flat valley westward from Kennedy meadow. The soil of this valley is of a light colored, coarse decomposed granite type on which I grew brush fuel, sage and the unknown (to me) types. This evening I set out about 400 mouse traps, 8 rat traps and 13 gopher traps. Aug 14 My catch this morning consisted of 11 Dipeodomys 15 Peromyscus maniculatus, 5 Perognathus, 3 Neotoma fuscipes
