Little Lake Calif. July 29,1933. Caught another Peromyscus near the river in front of camp. Caught a Thomomys in a small clearing east of camp. C. J. Hubble Jr. also killed a Thomomys within a few yards of the one trapped. It was a small & young that had been collecting grass that had been on top of the ground. Caught another young Neotoma in the rocks north of camp. Made an early start for the sand-bar in the Fern Lake. There were numerous swallows flying about the south craggy end of the lake I was able to distinguish the Violetpen Swallow the Rough-winged Swallow and another long brownish swallow. Shot another Spotted Sandpiper and noticed another downy young. This afternoon I shot a young Merganser. It was one of a group of four. I had noticed them for about a week fishing along in the quiet water between Little Lake and the River. Killed two Rattle snakes today. One early in the morning at the north end of the Little Lake and the other, a large one, at south east side
