W.B. Richardson 1936 General Account 15 We concluded that this noise was made by a bob-cat. I saw the track of a deer and a coyote 400 yd west of camp this morning. Jan 8 This morning I started out early for a hunt on the ridge to south of camp. This ridge runs almost east and west about a 1000 ft higher than camp. Near the top of the ridge there is a horizontal granite rock out crop. The vegetation of this hill slope consists of Quercus mexican, Buckeye, Pison oak, and Ceanothus cuneatus. These trees are not closely spaced but rather open leaving room for an glass cover. Near the top of the hill I saw what was apparently a Brush rabbit. It had been feeding about the edge of a ceanothus patch but made a dart for cover as soon as it saw me. Several Microtus mn ways were seen in the tall dry grass near a brushy area. The only other mammals seen on the hunt was 1 Intermediate lump-mound bat which was taken from an abandoned mine.
