Wm B. Richardson 1935 3 General Account Sept. I spent the rest of the day skinning. Don took the car up to Soda creek, 2 mi below Nelson; he found 3 ring-tailed cats and a spotted skunk carcass which had been discarded by a tiger. Virgil Topper went back to Porterville. Dec 22 Don Topper took one small spotted skunk from the traps. On my traps there were 3 gophers, 4 Peromyscus. Don also took 3 gophers from traps he had set on a small gully several (200 ft) hundred ft above camp on the north facing canyon wall. A ground squirrel was seen this afternoon which came into camp and ran off with some angry squealing. Don shot it but the wound was not fatal to the extent to prevent it from going down its burrow. The wild tiger took me out to where he caught the gray fox. Habitat: Small dry canyon thickly overgrown with oaks and brush, surrounded on each side by heavy oak, chaparral canyon slopes. I obtained the skull.
