Little Lake, Calif. July 21, 1933 A pair of Black-headed Grosbeaks were feeding in the oak above my head when I awoke. I shot the ♂. After breakfast I hunted about my trap line. Shot a ♀ Cutiearia on the rocky slope of the north side of the lake. From among a group of Willows on the west side of the lake I shot the ♀ of a pair of Red-winged Blackbirds. I hunted extensively among the willows between Little Lake, Creek and Little Lake but was only able to get a ♂ Culicivora. Crossed through the thicket and down to the lagoon. Here I saw a number of some variety feeding among the large sticks and stones. A number of these waders had been previously seen especially at the Big Turn lake on the sand bars and feeding along the sandy banks of the river. I collected a ♀ Black-headed Grosbeak from a willow thicket near the river on my way to camp between the lake and river. I shot a squirrel in camp that had been eating the grain for my mules.
